NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.
Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.
At Cowra Public School we offer Scripture classes every Wednesday at the following times;
2:30pm-3:00pm. All classes are taught by representatives from approved SRE providers and supervised by CPS staff.
Our approved providers are the Anglican Diocese of Bathurst, the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst, the Baptist Association of NSW and ACT, the Uniting Church in Australia, the Salvation Army and the Presbyterian Church of Australia.
For parents who do not wish their child to attend Scripture lessons, they will be placed in a "Non-Scripture" group. This group will be supervised by a CPS teacher and will participate in alternative meaningful activities eg quiet reading.
Students will remain in their nominated Scripture group each year. If parents wish to change their child's nominated Scripture group, the school must be notified in writing.
