There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.

A year at Cowra Public School

Cowra Public School has been identified by the NSW Department of Education, as a school that strongly supports effective transition practices for students moving from primary to high school.

In June, the NSW Department of Education sent a team out to Cowra to film some of these practices, including our Stage 2 and Stage 3 Wagambirra Dance Groups and Stage 3 Young Scientists program. The crew will put together a short video called “Illustrations of Practice” which will be shared on the NSW Department of Education’s website, to inspire other schools who may be looking at similar programs for their students.

This is wonderful recognition for our school and an exciting opportunity for some of our students and staff to be involved in promoting our school and sharing their culture with others!

In Term 3, Cowra Public School hosted 3 Directors Educational Leadership from the Griffith, Temora Network and Cowra Networks, along with the Rural South & West Executive Director, for an “Explicit Teaching Tour”.

CPS is consistently achieving outstanding student results and the Directors were keen to get a closer look at each school’s high quality teaching practices in action!

Our special visitors, and the team from YNPS, observed the explicit teaching of maths in fie=ve of our classes and, as usual, our teachers and students nailed it!

We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with the team at Young North and sharing our outstanding explicit teaching practices with public schools right across the Rural South & West Directorate in the future.

Cowra Public School is thrilled to celebrate Book Week 2025 with the theme ‘Book an Adventure’!

Our annual dress-up day and parade along Kendal Street was a spectacular event, with huge student participation and amazing costumes bringing stories to life.

Thank you to students, staff and community for making this day so memorable and thank you to our friends from Holman Place School for joining us in the Parade again this year!
