The first day of Kindergarten and the return to school in the new year are busy times for your child – and for the entire family. To help you make the most of this time and enjoy the experience, we’ve compiled some useful tips and checklists. We want every student to be known, valued and cared for in our schools.

2019 school budget allocations

Like all NSW public schools, this week we will receive a School Budget Allocation Report with our funding for 2019. The report will help us manage our total budget delivered through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM).

The RAM supports schools through needs-based funding to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent allocation of funds. Our school has the flexibility to make local decisions based on the specific needs of our students.

We will use our 2019 funding to support students and improve educational outcomes. The school executive will continue to work with the school community as we implement the school plan using this needs-based funding.

Premier's Sporting Challenge

Our school has registered to participate in the NSW Premier's Sporting Challenge.

The purpose of the Challenge is to encourage students to participate in sport, games and physical activity and to have more students, more active, more often!

This term students will be monitoring physical activity they do during class time, at recess and lunch as well as during sport. What they do outside school hours will also count towards the Challenge award.

Each students will be issued with a Challenge log bookto record their physical activity.

Your support in encouraging your child to be physically active before and after school as well as on weekends will encourage him/her to develop healthy lifestyle habits. You may like to join us in this venture by organising family activities such as walking, swimming and cycling.

Physical activity is valued for its physical, social and emotional benefits. It also helps young people to develop communication skills, confidence and resilience while having fun with family and friends.

Mark the dates in your diaries- the P & C's major fund raising activity for 2013 is only weeks away.

All funds raised from the fete will be used on prajects that benefit all children at our school.

National Recognition for Cowra Public School

Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, in her address to the National Press Club, highlighted Cowra Public School as an educational institution that has made significant gains for our students. Prime Minister Gillard highlighted the successful programs instigated in our school to assist our students in becoming accomplished learners.
